Evidence of the flourishing trade
between Chinese traders and Filipinos traces it's roots as early as
600 B.C. By 1278-1368, natives of Sulu and Chinese enjoyed
direct commerce. In 1405 Emperor Yung Lo sent a mission to the
Philippines, by 1419 the Filipino reciprocated by sending two
missions to China, headed by two Sulu sultans, Paduka &
Maharaja.
The derivation of diplomatic relations between the
Philippines and China is based on the underlying principles of the
One China Policy, signed through a joint communiqué between the
People's Republic of China & the Republic of the Philippines on
June 9, 1975.
